I've been posting our decorations on Instagram - and also admiring what others are doing in their front yard. I found a few more - close by. It's so cool. So much to see. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!
Over the weekend I took a longer walk and was able to find lots of cool things to take pictures of to share with you.
1) I just love these old houses. Look at the detail. They spent time on these houses.
2) See the moon peeking out around the chimney? I enjoy the shadows in the morning.
3) Love those arches.
As I spoke about in my podcast, and wrote about in my Gotta Be Me section - it was foggy this morning! I took some cool pictures. Oooooohhhhhhh Oooooohhhh. That's me making spooky sounds. Okay, enough - here are the pictures.
First one (up top) - this is one of my favorite buildings. Look at it in the fog. I was able to capture a perfect foggy scene. Can you see the figure walking? Who is that? I don't know. Go ahead...make up a story.
(down below)Do you see the eyes? There were eyes coming down the street! Okay - of course it's just headlights - but isn't that great!
The streets were so foggy. I got some great pictures of the neighborhood - even walking on the boulevard. It was really cool. Fog! Fog! Fog!
Oh there was lots to look at this morning. Yes, I saw you moon peeking out - and you were looking fabulous. I think the picture came out great.
I'm really starting to see detail on houses - that I haven't seen or at least taken the time to appreciate. All right - here are some cool finds.
What a great window - with the old iron. Very cool.
I've always loved stained glass. I think it's amazing to use on a house. I know someone who can do this - he doesn't anymore - but just the fact that he knew how to make a stained glass window - is so cool. It's an old art - which needs to come back. Beautiful.
And I love these cute gates with the rounded entry. I get to peek inside and the backyard is so sweet. I've wanted to a picture - but it's someone's backyard. So I don't. I just appreciate it. I decided to take it from this angle. I just love this look. It makes me feel happy.
I do NOT like graffiti. That horrible look when you see a gang tagged a building. So sad. But street art? Now that's cool. L.A. is filled with it. And I see it.
First picture - the kitty cats - are adorable. Some guy puts these all over the city. So sweet. Frankly, I would love to meet him and ask him to put some on our house. Seriously!
Now I'm not quite sure I like the dinos yet. I'm not sure it is even the kitty cat guy. It doesn't look like it. It's art is very neat. I like the idea. But I don't like how the paint streaks. Spotted one near our local pet store. I asked the owner - and he likes it. So I'm comin' around a little bit. Saw another one this morning - different spot - so someone is going around putting these up. Thought I would post it here. From a distance - I think it's cute. But up close - hmmmmmm - still not so sure.
And then - the last picture - isn't exactly street art. But it's just cool - let's see - what I can call - street entertainment. It's this great store that sells a ton of vintage and other crazy crap. We drove by it - and I saw this - it just made me think of the caption. "Want chairs? Cause we got chairs!"
Okay, let's see if any of you get that reference. It's ok, if you don't. But if you do....she's mighty mighty....all right enough of that.
I really appreciate a brick house. They don't make them around here anymore. This is an old one. I never really took the time to admire it. So I did this morning. Not only is this house made of brick - but they went bold and chose to use red around on the trim. I think it looks really cool. I didn't take any pictures of the house itself. But I got a few cool spots.
It was a beautiful overcast morning. Yes, I say beautiful. Do you know how much sun we get here? Overcast mornings, to me, are a nice change. It's a break. I can just relax on my walk - the neighborhood looks a little different - I don't have to worry about sunscreen - and I don't have to be too peppy if I don't wanna! I was somewhere in between peppy - and just wanted to relax. I keep forgetting that the weather has changed, and the mornings are a little more brisk - and I forget to bring a jacket. Layer Rebecca.
All right - so what did I find?
First, I found the overcast sky. For those, like me, who enjoy a delicious overcast sky - isn't it delicious. So relaxing.
Then I decided to take a picture of this cool metal sun. I've seen it before. There's a cool house with a fence around it - and they have these metal suns on the fence. Today - it's funny - as I'm enjoying the mystical, moody overcast morning - I should notice an "ode to the sun" message. You know I adore you sun. No worries about that.
The last picture, down at the bottom, I took over the weekend. This is a peek into that building I love. I've been posting parts of it. It's the cool brick one with lots of character. Well, I don't want to disturb anyone during the week. But over the weekend, it was so quiet, I got a quick peek in. I've been inside - once. It is beautiful in there.
Good morning! Good morning Monday! Good morning you!
All right...ready for some pics? I've got some.
On my walk yesterday I spotted the sun. Yep, the sun. I had to take a couple pictures - for you! Yeah. I was walking along the boulevard - which is usually bustling with cars and noises - but it was quiet on a Sunday. It's nice to walk it on a Sunday. And the sun joined me. Which I needed because I was a little chilly. What do you think of the sun in it's fancy attire?
And then this morning, as I was walking, I had to stop. I'm wasn't sure why. Something caught my eye. I've walked by here tons of times. I never saw it before. Look! A sweet little frog sitting on a wall. Hello frog!
Okay....I took some pictures and now I need to spread them out and see what I took. Let's see....here's one....I had just set out for my walk and I looked up and I saw him. Can you see him? Look close. You know, I won't tell you what "he" is....you find him. It'll be fun. If you want send me a message and tell me if you found him.
And then I found this beautiful tree. It's like a huge fern. I was taking a picture and I heard a hummingbird. I wanted to take a picture of him too....but he was too quick. Buzz....buzz!
As I stood there watching the hummingbird, I just stopped to appreciate the garden and the shadows - so I took a picture. And look who's in it? Yep - that's me. Shadow me. Selfie shadow me.
Taking pictures to show you all is fun. I certainly hope you enjoy them too.
Anytime you want to take a picture and send it to me to show me your discoveries, please do. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
There is an apartment I pass on some of my walks. It's a cool old building. We've met a nice outside cat named Felix there, it seems to be filled with families -and the kids have kiddie pools and cute play toys scattered across the yard. Until recently, (dangnabbit - I didn't take a picture) - there were these vines that overflowed and cascaded over the fence - and I kept noticing it when I walked by. I noticed it this morning because it looks like a barber got to it with his shears. However- I took a minute and glanced up. I thought - hey I never noticed that before. I got a neat picture of the balcony and you can see the beautiful ivy and other plant (that's the cascading one) draping over. It's really a neat looking plant when allowed to grow long. Then I just took a minute to look at the whole building. I knew of one of the balconies - but there was another one. How cool! So I took some pictures. I think I got some good ones. Here they are:
